Since having given up astro-imaging for health reasons and selling my gear I am finding real joy in processing some of Hubbles amazing image data such as this one the Cats Eye Nebula also known as NGC 6543. The image on the left is an X-ray image of the Cats Eye planetary nebula obtained by the Chandra ACIS camera at the same spatial scale as the optical image.
The dying star appears to have ejected its material to form the nebula at intervals of a few hundred to a few thousand years. Its existence answers in the affirmative the question whether a thing is real. Have any more nebula or galaxies to share.
